CUVÉE BOZ MOUNT HARRY BLANC DE BLANCS 2020

CUVÉE BOZ MOUNT HARRY BLANC DE BLANCS 2020

Named after Dermot's dearly departed brother, Barry Ben Sugrue – affectionately known as "Boz" – this cuvée has a place close to our hearts. A spectacularly gifted individual, Boz was an ardent and accomplished man, bright as the crisp-white paper his razor-sharp pencil raised perfection upon.

Made only in the best vintages and crafted with long cellar-ageing in mind, Cuvée Boz Blanc de Blancs is the ultimate expression of English Chardonnay on South Downs chalk.

From an exceptional year, which enjoyed long spells of warmth and higher-than-average light levels, the 2020 Cuvée Boz Blanc de Blancs comes entirely from Mount Harry – our 'Grand Cru' single vineyard on the East Sussex Downs, planted in 2006.

Beautifully open and expressive from the get-go, it's showing spiced citrus and floral notes, alongside stony minerals and tangy acidity. While we enjoy Blanc de Blancs when it's youthful and 'crunchy', this has a long and bright future ahead of it.

FOOD PAIRING

One brilliant sommelier put us onto stir-fried lobster noodles with Cuvée Boz Blanc de Blancs and we haven't stopped dreaming of the combination since.

While it's youthful and 'crunchy,' this wine loves anything from the sea – sushi, scallops, Dover sole. As it matures, it can take on spicier flavours. Soft cheeses, like High Weald Dairy's Little Sussex, work very nicely too.

WHAT THE CRITICS SAY

"The nose is bright and fresh, offering a touch of green apple and lemon with a subtle saltiness. The palate has wonderful energy, driven by its lemon brightness and deep chalkiness. Beautifully clear-cut with sprightly mousse. Pure, brisk, crisp, and delicious." 93 Points, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous

"This is a style of wine I love. It has minerality, it has really crisp acidity, and yet it 's managed to avoid being austere. There's an almost honeyed note to the back palate. The flavours are immensely long. This is a truly delicious wine. I think this is stupendous. It truly is a bargain." 95 Points, David Allen MW
